Senior leaders from Holcim Australia and New Zealand recently convened on the Gold Coast for the Senior Leaders Conference: New Era of Growth—a day dedicated to strategy, collaboration, and innovation. The event provided a platform for sharing insights, strengthening leadership, and aligning with Holcim’s vision for the future.
Setting the Stage for Success
Dr Ben Hamer, a respected futurist and leading expert on the Future of Work, set the tone with thought-provoking insights on navigating industry transformation. His message emphasised agility, innovation, and a forward-thinking mindset—critical for Holcim’s ongoing growth.
George Agriogiannis, CEO of Holcim Australia & New Zealand, outlined the company’s commitment to Purpose, People, and Performance—the core pillars of the Holcim Spirit. As the company moves forward into an exciting new chapter, its mission of “Building progress for people and the planet” will be achieved by serving our customers with iconic infrastructure, industry and building.
Lessons from an Olympic Champion
One of the most inspiring sessions featured Jess Fox OAM, Olympic canoeing champion, who shared her journey to success. Jess’s journey to Olympic Gold at the Tokyo and Paris Games mirrors the qualities needed in business leadership—discipline, adaptability, and the drive to continuously improve. Her powerful message resonated with Holcim’s leaders, reinforcing the mindset required to navigate challenges and achieve excellence in business.
Inspiring Leadership & Purpose-Driven Growth
The afternoon featured an engaging talk by Naomi Simson, Founder of RedBalloon, who spoke about the power of leading with purpose. With authenticity and energy, Naomi shared the challenges and triumphs of her business journey, highlighting the role of passion and persistence in creating long-term success. “Leading with purpose is to start the conversation—to remind everybody, over and over again, of why you do what you do,” she told the audience.
A Culture of Collaboration & Safety
Beyond inspiring talks, leaders participated in team-building activities, reinforcing collaboration and the Holcim Spirit. A strong focus was also placed on Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)—a key pillar of Holcim’s operations. Jeffrey Giesse, Group Head for HSE, joined the conference virtually from Holcim’s headquarters in Switzerland to highlight the company’s commitment to the safety and wellbeing of its 60,000+ employees worldwide. His message reinforced that sustainable growth must always be built on a foundation of care and responsibility.
