Key Facts

Cement

  • Holcim has two 30,000 tonne cement storage facilities in Timaru and Auckland.

  • Cement is sourced from Mitsubishi Materials Corporation (MMC) in Japan with whom Holcim has a long-term cement supply agreement in place.

  • The Timaru Cement Terminal supplies cement to the South Island and lower North Island while the Auckland Cement Terminal supplies cement to the upper North Island with the majority of cement used in the Auckland market.

  • A Holcim domestic ship distributes cement from Timaru to marine terminals around New Zealand including Dunedin, Lyttelton, Nelson, Wellington, New Plymouth and Napier.

  • About 90% of cement is delivered to customers in bulk and 10% in bags.

Aggregates

  • Holcim operates out of quarries at Bombay, Hastings and Wellington, which supply approximately 1.1 million tonnes annually.

Concrete

  •  Holcim are 50% shareholders in AML, which is a joint venture with Allied Concrete. 

  • AML have a network of 33 ready mixed concrete plants, 32 of which are in the North Island and supply a large share of New Zealand's ready mixed concrete market.

  •  AML trades as Allied Concrete and is managed within the Allied Concrete structure.

  • Holcim has interests in the concrete industry in New Zealand through our 50/50 JV with AML Concrete
    (nationally) and investments in Atlas Resources in Auckland.
