Scholarships

Holcim New Zealand has built on the success of educational scholarships it has offered in the Buller area for more than 25 years. Since 2009 we have extended scholarship opportunities to several other communities in which we operate.  Scholarships for 2012 will be offered at:

• Buller district
• Wellington
• Franklin district

In each of these communities a Holcim scholarship will be made available, which offers $2,000 per annum (maximum of 4 years) towards tertiary study costs plus, where available, paid work at the relevant Holcim site during the holidays for the duration of the scholarship.

Scholarship criteria

• Applicants with a connection to one of these communities will be preferred (eg. born, attended school, parents/ family living in the area)
• Preference will be given to applicants whose tertiary studies are relevant to Holcim (eg. science, mining, manufacturing, engineering).
• Short-listed applicants will be asked to attend one or more interviews with Holcim representatives.

Scholarship timeline

• Applications for 2012 scholarships open on 15th August 2011.
• Applications close on 30th September 2011.

Scholars may be named on our website, in publications, and/or in related publicity.
