In April 2007 Holcim New Zealand lodged applications for the resource consents it needs to operate its proposed Weston cement plant and associated quarries and pits.
Submissions on these applications closed at 5pm on 19 June 2007. The hearing for resource consent applications commenced on Monday 20 August 2007, for a period of three weeks, and was extended for a further week in October, adjourning on Friday 12 November 2007. A decision granting consents, and specifying a range of associated conditions was received in February 2008.
The resource consent applications and their associated technical reports comprise four volumes of documents totalling around 2000 pages.
